爭取由美國波士頓主辦2024年奧運的申辦團體，21日選出美國職籃(NBA)波士頓塞爾蒂克隊(Celtics)共同老闆之一的佩格琉卡(Steve Pagliuca)為新主席。
同時也是貝恩資本(Bain Capital)總裁的佩格琉卡，將接下重任說服國際奧林匹克委員會(IOC)，讓美國能繼1996年之後再度舉行夏季奧運。
佩格琉卡表示，他初步將聚焦於更新申辦奧運的興建及運作計畫，他認為只要委員會能針對主要館場，提出一項深思熟慮的運作方案，就能增加大眾的支持。委員會已承諾，將在6月底前完成更新計畫。
不過佩格琉卡也說，他在波士頓爭辦奧運委員會的無酬工作只是兼職的，他仍將繼續目前在塞爾蒂克隊和貝恩資本的角色。
目前角逐2024年奧運主辦權的城市包括義大利羅馬、美國波士頓、德國漢堡以及法國巴黎，報名日期到9月15日截止。國際奧會預計於2017年宣布2024年奧運主辦城市。
